Blairstown Diner- Plasterhead/Friday the 13th

"Just in time for Friday the 13th, the Plasterhead folks have uploaded an EXCLUSIVE clip from the film, taken from a scene shot at the Blairstown Diner. The clip can be viewed on the film's Myspace page, located at http://www.myspace.com/plasterheadmovie . As many of you already know, the Blairstown Diner in Blairstown, NJ is famous for being the diner in the original Friday the 13th. It now bears the brand of being the diner in Plasterhead as well.

According to Peter Apostolou, the diner's current owner, the Blairstown Diner still sees Friday the 13th fans from all around the country come to pay homage to the legendary location. "Every Friday the 13th for several years now, we get visitors from all over," he says. "They come to see the place where it all began. I have met people from Virginia and New York, and one group of teenagers took a summer vacation all the way from Texas. They were making stops at all of the filming locations of all the Friday the 13th movies."

Apostolou, whose family purchased the diner in 1990, says, "The Diner has changed hands five times since being built. At the time [we purchased it], it was still in its original state. Two years ago we remodeled the diner, simply because it was time for a fresh look. We retained the original builders, and had them keep the original look, while giving it a newer, fresher look inside. It's actually a topic of great debate. Some longtime customers miss the diner's original charm, while others are very pleased with the new look."

With the Blairstown Diner's recent appearance in Plasterhead, the eatery and surrounding townsfolk are once again the center of attention. "The community is aware that two films have been shot in Blairstown," says Apostolou. "Most wonder why they both had to be horror movies. But, at the same time, they all share a curiosity and almost a sense of pride knowing about the movies. They can almost be considered a small claim to fame for such a small town."

Of the original Friday the 13th, Apostolou shares his own personal memory. "I do personally know a former waitress who is now in her eighties who was used as an extra [in the original Friday the 13th]. When I asked her how much they paid, she told me something like $20. If they had only known how famous the movie was going to be!"

So, in honor of the original Friday the 13th, take a moment to remember the Blairstown Diner. Cruise on over to the Plasterhead Myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/plasterheadmovie), watch the exclusive clip, and witness slasher history revisited! Plasterhead will also be playing this month at the Evil City Film Festival in New York City, as well as the Atlanta Horror Film Festival. Enjoy this glorious horror holiday!"
