CASTING
"CHEERLEADERS VS ZOMBIES" starring horror actress Nancy Lynn McDonald
Already a seasoned stage actress and groomed by her management as an alluring Horror icon, this 21-year-old beauty made her film debut last year in a “zombie” movie. Originally cast in a significant role, Nancy McDonald arrived on the rustic Rhode Island location to learn that her character had been reduced to “little more than a glorified featured player. Then again”, she adds, “at least I had the opportunity to fraternize with Michael Madsen and William Forsythe.” Nancy subsequently approved another part in a “zombie” movie though she declines to elaborate upon the premise. “It's cast with Suicide Girls and shot in 3D. The director was very excited to feature me in a cameo, due to the cult status I have been building. The title of the film is, in itself, a spoiler, but I'm sure you will be hearing plenty about it in 2012! In a recent visit to Los Angeles, Nancy gathered interviews with filmmakers such as Stuart Gordon and Joe Dante for her book on Eroticism in Horror (already picked up for publication by Bear Manor). It was also on this trip that she was cast as a lead in a feature film to be shot in CA and AZ in January 2012: "CHEERLEADERS VS ZOMBIES".
Another zombie film??
Yes, folks; Nancy will be facing off against the undead for a third time in her career. This one, however, will be done in a class all its own. "CHEERLEADERS VS ZOMBIES" is a cleverly written, character-driven Horror film with classic comedic elements. Nancy will be portraying a perky cheerleader a la Cheryl 'Rainbeaux' Smith who, with her fellow cheerleaders, must trust their team spirit to win the day- even in the face of their brain-craving nemeses!
Nancy expounds on her excitement for this new endeavor “This is everything that B-movies used to be about...remember the days when directors like Joe Dante squeezed a swan out of low-budget duckling? The filmmakers don't want to make filler that can be dropped into a video dispenser. They're fired-up about making a franchise which wouldn't be possible unless the core demographic genuinely cares about this movie. We'd like to cross-over into the mainstream so we're not only concerned about quality but the promotion as well!”
Prompted by her confidence in the fledgling series, Nancy is abandoning her Maryland home turf and moving to L.A. “I've paid my dues in the east, including the Baltimore Actors' Theatre Conservatory and a distance-learning tenure with the Trinity College of London. After ten years of stage, I'm eagerly exploring all that film has to offer! "CHEERLEADERS VS. ZOMBIES" is modern Grand Guignol, comedy and female bonding. And--oh, yeah--zombies who eat succulent cheerleaders. I wouldn't be moving to L.A. for anything less.”
