Dante Does "BAT OUT OF HELL"

Joe Dante is returning to the director's chair following a five-year absence to helm "BAT OUT OF HELL", a low-budget indie horror flick.

According to Variety, the film will take place on a red-eye flight from L.A. to New York, during which hijackers are forced to do battle with a monstrous cargo.

Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan have written the script, with production set to start later this year.

Dante is best known for "PIRANHA" and both "GREMLINS" pics, although his last big screen effort was 2003's lacklustre "LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION". Here's hoping "BAT OUT OF HELL" fares better.
