Variety reports that Fruit Chan will helm the American redux of Hideo Nakata's "DON'T LOOK UP". Distant Horizon first acquired the remake rights to "DON'T" (a.k.a. "GHOST ACTRESS") in the wake of the success of Nakata's "RINGU" and its Hollywoodization as "THE RING". Nakata was originally approached to update his own film before the reins were handed to Chan, who is not a genre specialist but won significant praise for his "DUMPLINGS" segment of the multidirector "THREE: EXTREMES" and its subsequent feature-length expansion of the same title. Henry Thomas, Kevin Corrigan, Lothaire Bluteau, Carmen Chaplin and Reshad Strik will star in the new "DON'T LOOK UP", which rolls in Los Angeles April 14. The story takes place at an abandoned movie studio taken over by a film crew who start experiencing a haunting by the spirit of an actress from its past.
