[DVD NEWS] - "URBAN FLESH" on DVD

BANNED INDY FILM GETS A SECOND CHANCE: URBAN FLESH TO BE RELEASED ON DVD
Sub-Rosa Studios to release classic Canadian gore film in October

On October 23rd 2007, Sub-Rosa Studios will release director Alexandre Michaud's classic gore film, "URBAN FLESH", on DVD. Following the film's original release in 1999, it was banned from importation in its home country of Canada. This new release will present an all-new cut of the movie which will result in a second chance for the picture in terms of the North American market and the censor boards.

Self-distributed in 1999 by Michaud's Helltimate Studio, "URBAN FLESH" became somewhat of a underground sensation over the years. The shocking gore-fest tells the story of a group of cannibals hunting for their preys in a modern city. Accused of being obscene by the Canadian, British and German governments, the movie was banned in those three countries in 2000. Seven years later, Sub-Rosa Studios, based in Syracuse, New York, is giving Urban Flesh another shot at the North American market

Completely re-edited from the original footage by the director, this new version of the film will feature much improved sound and picture quality compared to the original 1999 release. It also offers a swifter pace, running 20 minutes shorter than the original 100-minutes cut. Fans of gore need not worry as all the famous shocking scenes remain intact on the new DVD. To update the film for the 2007 audience, new tracks by Montreal's biggest metal band, Anonymus, have been added to the original score featuring Hollywood's cult metal band Willow Wisp and Montreal's classic metal groups; Obliveon and B.A.R.F.
