Hansen Talks Russo's "ESCAPE OF THE LIVING DEAD"

ESCAPE OF THE LIVING DEAD Hansen Talks Russos ESCAPE OF THE LIVING DEAD "ESCAPE OF THE LIVING DEAD" coming soon...The last thing the zombie world needs right now is another half-assed attempt to cash in on George Romero's brilliance, but it looks like that's just what we're starring down the barrel of as John Russo prepares to unleash "ESCAPE OF THE LIVING DEAD" on us.

Based on the Avatar Comic of the same name, "ESCAPE" is set in the same universe as Romero's "NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD", picking up many years after the initial outbreak. The theory is that some of the zombies were captured for experiments and have now escaped, causing the dead to come back all over again.

Fangoria chatted with "ESCAPE" star Gunnar Hansen recently, who might just be one of the only people out there looking forward to this; “This is a really brilliant role,” he told the mag. “My character is a biker; he gets zombified and then becomes the lead ghoul. It's going to be great fun, and yeah, I'm not just making a cameo appearance in this. To me, there is nothing better than being a zombie, so I'm really looking forward to that”

Tony Todd, Kane Hodder and Kirstina Klebe also star in "ESCAPE OF THE LIVING DEAD". We're not sure on the status yet, but it has a release date of September 1st, 2009, so expect to hear a lot more about it, whether we like it or not, in the coming year.

Gotta say,

For all of George Romero's "brilliance", Night of the Living Dead was the work of an inspired team of creators. John Russo (co-writer) and Russ Streiner (producer) deserve as much credit for Night's brilliance as Romero. I look forward to seeing what these guys will do with a (hopefully) solid budget.
