Hughes Brothers in Talks to Direct "AKIRA"
Vulture is reporting that "THE BOOK OF ELI" helmers Allen Hughes and Albert Hughes are negotiating to direct Warner Bros.' live-action adaptation of "AKIRA".Written by "IRON MAN" screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. the film is produced by Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way along with Andrew Lazar (upcoming "JONAH HEX").
According to the site, the studio is planning to make Akira in two parts, with the first three volumes of Katsuhiro Otomo's six-volume manga making up the first film, due out next year.
