Introduction to Camp Motion Pictures
CAMP MOTION PICTURES PITCHES ITS TENT ON THE HOME VIDEO FIELDExtreme, outrageous, uninhibited. The long forgotten and the unforgettable. The movies of Camp Motion Pictures possess the power to shock and entertain, whether they are newly produced feature films, never-before-released exploitation fare, or yet to be discovered gems from bygone decades. The Camp line-up includes a tantalizing mix of cult cinema categorized by films with genre busting appeal. Horror, thrillers, grindhouse, erotica and sexploitation, shock-u-mentaries, direct-to-video ‘schlock' classics of the 80s, and more...they all receive equal billing at Camp, and each release comes ready-made to delight and disturb.
The home entertainment industry can welcome an exciting new player onto its well-traversed field. Camp Motion Pictures is the latest incarnation of long-standing consumer catalog company, Alternative Cinema, Inc., whose upcoming DVD releases under the labels “Camp Motion Pictures,” “Bloody Earth Films,” and “Secret Key Motion Pictures” will now be available in national retail stores and online courtesy of an exclusive distribution arrangement with KOCH Entertainment. Camp releases will first hit stores on January 16, 2007.
Camp Motion Picture and its subsidiary labels were born out of a love for the 1980s era of ‘do-it-yourself' horror films and late-night cable sexploitation. These niche genres and the movies they spawned gained in mainstream popularity and garnered unprecedented exposure as they exploded across the television screens and whirred through the VCRs of virtually every home in America. Obscure cult titles such as Cannibal Campout, Video Violence, Hollywood Hot Tubs and Lunchwagon appeared virtually out of nowhere and immediately gained renown either for their copious amounts of gore or ultra-sexy shenanigans: ‘extreme' elements heretofore reserved for the drive-in movie and grindhouse cinema circuits.
The spirit of independent filmmaking was never stronger than in the early 80s with the advent of home video and the first consumer grade video ‘camcorders.' In years since, many have decried the end product associated with the newly affordable and user-friendly format; however, the resulting outrageous and enthusiastic direct-to-video releases were an inspiration for an entire generation of filmmakers. Camp Motion Pictures launches as a tribute to and in support of these mini cult classics, and as a distribution outlet for similarly inspired creations by today's low-budget auteurs.
Together, the three fledgling Camp labels will introduce a diverse line-up of quality films long absent from the home entertainment landscape, never-before-available at retail, or brand new to the consumer – at budget prices attractive to the die-hard fan or curious impulse buyer. And each Camp release will be lovingly packaged and presented on DVD with bonus materials, collectible booklets and ancillary extras atypical of such price conscious product.
The triumvirate of labels comprising Camp Motion Pictures is:
Camp Motion Pictures – Uncovering and releasing cult cinema from today and decades past, specializing in 1980s-produced films
Bloody Earth Films – The home for newly produced ‘extreme' horror & exploitation
Secret Key Motion Pictures – Offering contemporary erotica and ‘retro' sexploitation
Upcoming 2007 releases include:
Cannibal Campout, Woodchipper Massacre, Video Violence 1 & 2 (Camp Motion Pictures)
Taylor Wane's Erotic Games & Babes in Kongland (Secret Key)
Devil's Bloody Playthings, Blood Sex Nightmare, Splatter Beach (Bloody Earth Films)
