Unearthed Films to release Frankenstein's Bloody Nightmare

Filmmaker John R. Hand announced today that he has finalized a multi-year distribution deal with Unearthed Films together with Anthem Distribution to bring Hand\'s avante-garde debut feature Frankenstein's Bloody Nightmare onto US DVD in early 2007. "I couldn't be happier, " Hand says. "I really feel that the subject matter and approach of FBN will fit perfectly with the type of unusual material that Unearthed is known for releasing."

About the Film

Frankenstein's Bloody Nightmare stars Writer/Director/Producer Hand as the devious Dr. Victor Karlstein, a brilliant doctor who finds himself lost in an abyss of personal turmoil and professional stress after the woman he loved dies while under the care of his own mysterious medical facility. Determined to keep her alive, Victor uses his mechanically-enhanced reanimated corpse to murder young women in order to furnish "raw parts" for her new body, among other devious things. Along with Hand, FBN stars Amy Olivastro, Chester Delacruz, Mike Ensley, Chip Chism and Wade Best.

The film was meticulously "pieced" together by Hand over the course of a year and shot in a Super-8 Reversal film stock in order to achieve a visual quality evocative of classic seventies grindhouse film tempered by an experimental approach to the horror genre.

Todd Brown of Twitchfilm.net describes FBN as "Layered with a surreal theatricality, raw experimentation, a fixation on the intersection of humanity and technology, disturbing sexual overtones, a firm genre sensibility and a driving soundtrack." FBN is also set to run in an exclusive week-long theatrical engagement in October at New York's Pioneer Theater.
