"ALIEN" Prequel CONFIRMED and Carl Rinsch to Direct !

ALIEN ALIEN Prequel CONFIRMED and Carl Rinsch to Direct Rumors were coming out of horror site Bloody-Disgusting that 20th Century Fox was interested in relaunching the "ALIEN" franchise with some sort of reboot or remake, following the recent news that Robert Rodriguez would be doing the same thing for 20th Century Fox's other sci-fi creature franchise, "PREDATOR".

While there was no confirmation from the Fox camp or the trades, Collider's roving reporter "Frosty" cornered director Tony Scott at the press conference for his own remake of "THE TAKING OF PELHAM 1 2 3" to get confirmation and learned that Scott-Free Productions is indeed producing a remake with director Carl Rinsch helming. They hope that the movie, which is meant act as a prequel to Ridley Scott's original 1979 classic Alien, will be shooting by the end of the year.

The original B-D story suggested that they would return to the original concept of just one alien creature, and that they'd be looking for a new "Ripley".

Synopsis : In the near future, during its return to the earth, a commercial spaceship Nostromo intercepts a distress SOS from a distant planet. The seven-member crew are woken up from the hypersleep and the spaceship subsequently descends on the planet. While exploring the planet, a three-member team of the crew discovers a derelict spaceship and a huge chamber inside it containing thousands of eggs. When a curious team member goes too near the egg the parasite inside the egg attacks him, rendering him unconscious. He is brought back aboard, the spaceship takes off. After a little while the parasite dies and his host wakes up seemingly unruffled. But other crew members are unaware of the living nightmare which is going to descend upon them when the alien creature planted inside its unfortunate host would emerge.

All I can say is...YES!

Return the series to its roots, have Ridley give some form of role in the creation, hire a good screenwriter and have a blast with it.

It's about damn time! I was just thinking the other day how nice a prequel would be to this series.
