DVD News - SPLATTER, SUCKLING, XTRO coming to DVD
Elite Entertainment revealed to Fangoria that it has picked up a trio of New York-area exploitation features for DVD release over the next year. First up will be Richard W. (CLASS OF NUKE 'EM HIGH) Haines' SPLATTER UNIVERSITY, about a campus terrorized by bloody murders, which will arrive on disc October 19 with a new 1.85:1, 16x9-enhanced transfer and the theatrical trailer, for a retail price of $19.99. Further down the road will be DVDs of James Aviles Martin's FLESH EATING MOTHERS, in which high-schoolers have to deal with their newly carnivorous parents, and Francis Teri's THE SUCKLING (pictured), about an aborted fetus transformed into a monster by toxic waste. Rumor has it that a Fangoria staffer may have performed inside the creature suit for a few scenes of this movie.Meanwhile, a source at Image Entertainment reveals that, in addition to the ALONE IN THE DARK disc, the company is also raiding the New Line vaults to present a DVD of Harry Bromley Davenport's XTRO, along with its first sequel XTRO 2: THE SECOND ENCOUNTER. No details on the extras have been confirmed yet, but the source tells Fango there will be “tons—we're really going all out on these.” He also confirms that director Jack Sholder has indeed done a commentary for the ALONE disc; all three titles will be out sometime in 2005.
