"NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET" & "THING" Scribe Pens Fifth "FINAL DESTINATION"
Eric Heisserer ("THE THING", "NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET") will pen the script for a fifth "FINAL DESTINATION" film for New Line reports Heat Vision.Heisserer's involvement is an attempt to "break out of the repetition of the first four movies" to hold off the franchise from stagnating.
Though plot details are under wraps, the project still won't be for the squeamish - one scene involves a character undergoing laser-eye surgery.
Despite a critical drubbing and various reshoots, last year's "THE FINAL DESTINATION" pulled in an impressive $66 million domestic haul.
A list of directors is being assembled for the project which will be shot in 3D and will score a release next year. Craig Perry will remain as producer.
Synopsis : Death is just as omnipresent as ever and is unleashed after one man's premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But these unsuspecting souls were never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death's sinister agenda.
