Concerned for his daughter’s state of mind, Count Karnstein hires a young restorer, Friedrich Klauss, to investigate his family’s history and locate a portrait depicting Sheena in order to prove that she bears no resemblance to his daughter. The unexpected arrival of a young woman, Lyuba, to the isolated castle offers Laura friendship and solace, but her nightmares persists and Friedrich soon uncovers a secret in the castle crypt.
