Willem Dafoe Goes Green For "CARTER OF MARS"
Willem Dafoe ("SPIDER-MAN") has joined the cast of the fantasy epic "JOHN CARTER OF MARS" for Disney Pictures says the trades.An adaptation of the novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Dafoe will play the role of Tars Tarkas, a fierce green Martian warrior who is unusual among his savage race for his ability to love.
Tars develops an alliance with John Carter (Taylor Kitsch) and battles alongside him through the entire series (and thus will be around for sequels).
Andrew Stanton ("WALL-E") directs the project and co-wrote the script with Mark Andrews. Lynn Collins also stars.
Synopsis : Civil War vet John Carter is transplanted to Mars, where he discovers a lush, wildly diverse planet whose main inhabitants are 12-foot tall green barbarians. Finding himself a prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter Dejah Thoris, Princess of Helium, who is in desperate need of a savior.
